The Role

We are looking to recruit a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to be based within our Early Years team and also able to provide whole class cover in other year groups within our school.  The successful candidate is required to be an excellent team player. The role will involve varied duties, from working as a class TA to support within Early Years and also to provide whole class cover in other year groups, according to the needs of the school.

Oakwood Primary Academy is a two-form entry primary school in Eastbourne, for pupils aged 4-11. We currently have 305 pupils on roll. The majority of our pupils come from the local community – a community that means a great deal to our families and all the staff who work here. We are a school that has undergone huge, transformational change, having been rated as a ‘Good’ school, in all areas, at our most recent Ofsted inspection in October 2022. We are very proud of what has been achieved and are committed in continuing to raise outcomes and standards for all of our pupils.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, and willing to work as part of a team. We are seeking a HLTA who is flexible and adaptable to the needs of our school.

Our School Values

Our four values of ‘Knowledge, Equality, Determination and Achievement’ underpin everything that we do, belonging to every pupil. These help to create our vision for the school of ‘Being Better Every Day’.

Alongside this, our six principles of learning ensure that we remain focused on our priorities. These are:

1.  Learning to read. Learning to write. Learning to communicate.

2.  Instilling a ‘love of learning’ for all our pupils.

3.  Having the highest of aspirations for learning and expecting the very best every day.

4.  Embracing individual difference; celebrating diversity.

5.  Feeling proud of our achievements and reaching our goals.

6.  Aiming high with confidence, courage and perseverance.

We are looking for:

  • A committed HLTA with relevant past experience
  • A person who is dedicated and enthusiastic about improving standards and outcomes for the children who come to our school.
  • A HLTA who is collaborative and is able to work well as part of a team and who enjoys learning themselves.
  • A person with relevant experience who is committed to helping children do their best
  • A Teacher who shares our values – has high expectations, is ambitious and creative

In return staff working at Oakwood Primary Academy benefit from:

  • A well-resourced school and classrooms.
  • A supportive staff team.
  • Children who are motivated and wanting to learn.
  • A supportive environment that will allow you to be your best.
  • Access to our Aurora Advantage Scheme, which provides many benefits including an On Demand GP, access to an Employee Wellbeing and Assistance Scheme, high street discounts and a cycle to work scheme.
